Ira Glass on the creative process

So a few months back I hit major writer's block. And we're not talking the "lower your expectations and move on" kind of writer's block. We're talking every. word. like. pulling. teeth. And mostly it was because I couldn't quite bridge the gap between what I envisioned the story to be — read like, sound like, conjure — and what I was putting down on paper, or rather, screen.

Not good for a staff writer.

Then I discovered this little nugget of wisdom from PRI's  Ira Glass, i.e. the man behind This American Life,  i.e. one of the best, most idolized storytellers in North America. And I realized, it's all part of the process. That damn process. How it does vex me at times...
